Ignis the Furnace Master - Ulduar boss guide

Tactics for Ignis, Lord of the Forges in Ulduar 10/25 for WoW 3.3.5a: iron creatures, Burn and Heat, Smelting, Brittle and Icing, Slag ladle, zerg strategy and full loot.

⏱ Berserk: There is no formal rage timer, but in the script the boss casts Berserk after the 20th activation of the creature: RAID_MODE interval (40 sec, 30 sec) → approximately 13 minutes in 10 and 10 minutes in 25. That is why players are hearing “there is no enrage, but it is enraging.”

Review

Ignis is a fire giant who, on Loken's orders, riveted iron to Veranus (she became Razorwing) and forged Kologarn. Optional boss without hardmode, usually fights second or third. Single-phase battle: the tank leads the boss around the hall, the healers pull out the victims of the Slag Bucket, and the off-tank drives the iron creatures through the fire into the water to smash them and remove stacks of Creator Power from Ignis. With enough weight, all the fuss with the creatures is ignored and the boss simply zerks.

10 Normal5 578 000
25 Normal~19,500,000 (approximately, according to players after hotfix 3.1; at release it was ~24,500,000)
General tips
  • The Burn and Fire Stream cast is directed at the current target, so the boss is ALWAYS facing away from the raid - a 30-meter cone.
  • Fire Stream: cast for 2.7 sec, throws up and locks the school for 6 sec - casters interrupt the cast in advance, rather than pray.
  • A tank in water extinguishes the Burn instantly: convenient for the zerg, but then the creatures have nowhere to gain Heat. Choose one.
  • The Frost threshold is different: 5000 damage with one hit in spell 10 (spell 62382) and 3000 in spell 25 (spell 67114). If you don’t achieve it, the fragility will fall off and it will all happen again.
  • Achievement “Stokin' the Furnace” - kill Ignis in 4 minutes; in the script this is a timed achievement at the start of the battle.
  • Achievement “Shattered” - shatter two creatures within 5 seconds (in the script there is exactly 5000 ms between two Icings).
  • Desecrated ground unholy-DK extinguishes the Burn under creation - do not place unholy-DK on adds.
  • Ignis significantly reduces fire damage: it makes sense for fire mages to go to FFB.

Combat phases

Phase 1 The only phase is the crucible conveyor Pool

The combat is single-phase, but with two parallel conveyors. First: the main tank keeps Ignis facing away from the raid, takes him away from the scorched earth and worriesBurn every 20 sec andFire Stream every 25 sec while the healers pull outSlag ladle every 24 sec. Second: every 40 sec (10) / 30 sec (25) Ignis activates one iron creature and receives a stack ofCreator's Powers (+20% damage). Off-tank drags the creature into a puddleBurn → 10 stacksHeat → Melting → into the water →Brittleness → range hits 5000+ (3000+ in 25) →Icing, the creature scatters and a stack falls from Ignis.

  • The boss always faces away from the raid
  • Interrupt your castes beforeWith a stream of fire
  • Heal the victimSlag ladle
  • Cycle creation → fire → water → finish off
  • Fresh puddleBurn under adds

Abilities

Burn
Tank F.1
Cast for 3 sec every 20 sec: 2357–2643 fire damage every half second in a 30 m cone in front of the boss (in 25 - 3770–4230, spell 63473). Leaves scorched earth for 1885–2115 damage per second in a radius of 13 m. It is these puddles that heat up iron creatures.
Action: The boss is facing away from the raid, the tank moves away from the puddle. When cast, Ignis grows into the ground for 3 seconds and does not turn - you can calmly move away, the cone will remain in place. A burn near water goes out instantly.
Fire Stream
Raid damage F.1
Cast 2.7 sec every 25 sec: 5655–6345 fire damage (in 25 8483–9517, spell 63472) to everyone, throws you into the air and interrupts the cast with the school lock for 6 sec, plus 1000 damage per second for 8 sec on top.
Action: Casters and healers keep the timer and cancel the cast BEFORE completion - otherwise the school is locked. Immunities (Ice Block, Divine Shield, AMC) remove damage completely. The priest can cast Hymn of Hope through it.
Slag ladle
Raid damage F.1
Every 24 sec: Ignis jerks a random player (not the current target and not the one who is already occupied by the add) and puts him in a cauldron - 4500 fire damage per second for 10 sec (6000 in 25, spell 63477). The survivor receives Magic Ash: +100% attack speed and cast for 10 sec.
Action: Separate healing for the bucket. A rag without CD is almost guaranteed to die there. Ice Block, Cloak of Shadows, AMC and Divine Shield save, but the fallen shield breaks the achievement. A dash towards the victim often takes the boss away - the tank immediately returns him to his place.
Engage creation
Other F.1
Every 40 sec (10) / 30 sec (25): Ignis animates one iron creature (NPC 33121) and gains a stack of Creator Power. After the 20th activation, casts Berserk.
Action: The off-tank should pick up the add right away - it’s hard to find it, so assign zones in advance. Miles do not spend damage on creatures: they are still killed only by Icing.
The Power of the Creator
Other F.1
Stack for each living activated creature: +20% to damage dealt, stacks virtually without limit. The stack is only removed when the creature is scattered by Icing.
Action: This is the only reason to do adds at all. Pumps up physical damage - if the heals are holding the tank, you can tolerate the stacks and just zerk the boss.
Heat
Other F.1
A creature standing in the scorched earth stacks Heat: +5% to movement and attack speed per stack, stacks drop approximately once every half a second. At 10 stacks, Melting is turned on.
Action: The off-tank's task is to simply keep the add in the puddle for ~5 seconds. Rooting is not necessary: stacks drip faster than the add can leave.
Melting
Other F.1
At 10 stacks of Heat, the creature becomes red-hot: +100% attack speed and 1885–2115 fire damage per second to everyone within a 7 m radius. At the same time, aggro is completely reset.
Action: Resetting aggro is the main catch: the red-hot add will run to the nearest healer. Either the off-tank instantly interrupts the aggro and leads into the water, or (a proven trick) the heals are standing right in the water and the add himself resorts to them.
Brittleness
Other F.1
A red-hot creature in water freezes: immobilized for ~15–20 sec, +50% chance of getting a critical hit. If one attack causes more than 5000 damage (in 25 - 3000, separate spell 67114), the creature splits.
Action: Assign one ranger with a guaranteed big poke (Lava Burst, Starfire, Incinerate). If you don’t finish it off, the fragility will go away, and the whole cycle will start again.
Icing
Other F.1
Creature Death from Brittle: 18,850–21,150 physical damage, ignoring armor, to everyone within a 10m radius. The name in the client is “Icing”, although the physical damage is from fragments.
Action: Move away from the add before finishing off: the fragments kill both the raid and neighboring creatures equally well. Two splits within 5 seconds = “Shattered” achievement.
Berserk
Berserk F.1
Cast after the 20th activation of the creature: damage +900%, attack speed +150%. In terms of time, this is approximately 13 minutes in 10 (40 sec × 20) and 10 minutes in 25 (30 sec × 20).
Action: In practice, only completely failed pulls reach it. The benchmark for the achievement is 4 minutes, there is a huge margin before Berserk.

Positioning

Classic: The main tank drives Ignis in a circle or triangle at the water's edge, facing straight away from the raid, leaving Burn puddles a mile away. Range and heals stand in the water or at the very edge. The off-tank works as a shuttle: picks up the creature → into the nearest puddle → into the water → moves away → the assigned range finishes off. Zerg option: the tank stands right in the water, the Burn goes out on the spot, the adds are simply collected in a heap and not touched at all.

🛡 Tank
MT: the boss is always facing away from the raid, retreating from the scorched earth, short reshuffles after each Burn. Remember that Ignis parries and hits often. OT: pick up the creature immediately after activation, 5 seconds in a puddle, kill the aggro after Melting, take it into the water and move away from the fragments. In 25 you need a second OT for adds.
✨ Healer
One heal is hard on MT (stacks of the Creator's Power accelerate physical damage), one on OT and Slag Bucket, the rest on the raid. The heals stand in the water - then the red-hot creatures themselves resort to them after the aggro is released, and the OT does not need to interrupt the aggro. Cancel casts before Fire Stream.
⚔DD
Miles are strictly behind the boss and are ready for his dashes for the victim of the bucket. Damage to creatures - rolled damage, except for one designated ranged demolition. Casters keep the Fire Stream timer. Fire mages should go into Frostbolt due to the boss's fire resistance.

Role Tips

🛡 Tips for the tank
  • Don't plant unholy-DK on adds: Corrupted Earth extinguishesBurn under creation andHeat not dialing.
  • DK's Ice Shackles and Warrior's Stunning Strike make it much easier to guide a creature through a puddle.
  • After Ignis's dash for a scoop victim, he often ends up in a stupid position - return him immediately while the cone is not facing the raid.
  • If you want zerg, tank the boss in the water:Burn goes out on the spot, but then the creatures have nowhere to typeHeat, and stacksCreator's Powers will accumulate.
✨ Tips for healer
  • Slag ladle requires an individual: 4500 (6000 in 25) damage per second for 10 seconds - without focused healing, the rag cannot survive.
  • Stand in the water: after the aggro is released, the red-hot creatures will come running to you, and OT will finish the cycle faster.
  • StuckeyCreator's Powers they accelerate the physics on the MT like an avalanche - if the adds are not hit, plan the tank’s CD in advance.
  • Cancel cast beforeFire stream:Locking the school for 6 seconds in the middle of the bucket kills the raid.
⚔ DD Tips
  • Don't waste damage on iron creatures - they are only killed byIcing, everything else goes into milk.
  • One designated range with a big poke finishesBrittleness: 5000+ with one attack in 10, 3000+ in 25.
  • It makes sense for fire mages to go into Ice Arrow: Ignis has noticeable resistance to fire.
  • Rogi: Cloak of Shadows removes the bucket pillbox completely. Magi: Ice block. Paladins: the shield will save you, but will ruin your achievement.
  • Opening the Rogue and Druid's Faerie Sense on the boss is a very noticeable increase for melee.
