Shaman: complete guide - totems, healing and elemental

The Shaman is WoW's "Swiss Army Knife": totems provide buffs to the entire group, and three specializations cover almost any role.

Specializations

• Elemental - Ranged Mage: Lightning, Chain Lightning, Totem of Wrath. Good in PvE and wizard cleave in the arena.
• Enhancement— melee combat with weapons and buffs: “Ghost Wolf”, “Storm Strike”.
• Restoration — the strongest raid healer: “Chain Heal”, “Earth Shield”.

Totems are your main feature

“Totem of Wrath”, “Totem of Flame”, “Totem of Trembling” - a set of totems for every situation. Properly placed totems give the group more than your personal damage.

PvP

Restoration Shaman is a popular healer in the arena: Stoneshield Totem and Dispel keep the group alive. The Elemental works great against melee units due to its kite and Thunderstorm.

What to remember

The Shaman does not have powerful defensive cooldowns other than totems, so positioning is more important than rotation: don't stand in front, place totems in advance.
